The shift knob on FTDX10 is way too fine, though, if you turn it 90 degrees either side the shift value is some 50-60Hz only, so you need to keep turning that knob a lot. Yeasu FTDX10 has dedicated Width and Shift knobs, which I prefer. Shift doesn’t have its own knob, it’s managed via Twin PBT.Ham Radio Outlet loaned me a Yaesu FT-710 AES. Which takes me nicely to looking at the design philosophy behind the FTdx10.I’ve had a number of requests to shoot a video series about the Yaesu FT-710 AESS, similar to my FTdx10 series. 1, shows it between my IC-7300 and IC-7610. While the FTDX10 is an attractive option for those seeking a feature-rich device with a beautiful display and who are willing to pay a higher price, the ICOM 7300 is better. In summary, both the Yaesu FTDX10 and ICOM 7300 are premium ham radios with unique features that cater to different types of users. Only downside is Icom have superior menus in my opinion. Conclusion on Yaesu FTDX10 vs ICOM 7300. It's no hybrid but it is a newer SDR design. I like my FTDX10 but don't use all the features and wish it had better ergonomics, and was a bit cheaper. The dials are in better places now on the 710, for example. The DX10 seems to be the better radio now, but perhaps a firmware update in the 710 could really make it awesome. I'm still puzzled over the advantage of one technology over the other. Yaesu FTDX10 - £1550.One of the comments made in that video is that the FT-DX10's A/D is "audio grade" as opposed to the "much more expensive A/D" in the 710. The FT-991A doesn't seem like a meaningful upgrade from the FT-450D, so I've further narrowed it down to: Icom IC-7300 - £1200. Scheduled to be released in late August, the price is still unknown. Note: The FT-710M and FT-710S are the 50 and 10 watt versions of this new radio. J– Social media awash with news today that YAESU is about to introduce a new transceiver – the FT-710. Any radio in the top 20 is going to be good, but getting a radio in the top 4 is a pretty good thing! Actually hybrid SDR's are better than pure SDR's as demonstrated with the 7300, the FT DX 10 handles better noisy environment and doesn't get overloaded when the 7300 does because of that hybrid arquitecture. 3rd Highest Performing Receiver Receiver Test Data () We are pleased to introduce the FTDX10, a new long-awaited compact HF/50MHz 100W SDR Transceiver!Today we have our hands on the newest HF radio from Yaesu, the FT-710 AESS, and I've invited John back onto the livestream to walk us through some menus and. It is, like its big brother, the FTdx101, a hybrid of SDR and traditional superhet. This takes me nicely to looking at the design philosophy behind the FTdx10. What I don't see is Yaesu coming out for a replacement size wise to the FTDX3000. I had seen some ad's for this new FT710 which looks like a new lower cost version of the FTDX10, maybe it might be directly competitive with the 7300 but with some added features that are NOT on the 7300 but many wish these features to be added. ![]()
